Le Koma machen Rap auf deutsch, und wie! Erbarmungslos ehrliche Texte auf sphärische Gitarrenriffs, ein Ausloten von Genregrenzen, immer neugierig doch niemals gekünstelt.

Eine Raserstrecke, eine Verwechslung und Liebeskummer, eine Schneeballschlacht und ein Klavier im Treppenhaus führten anno 2020 zu einer gut gefüllten Intensivstation im Kanton Schaffhausen und schliesslich zur Vermählung von Pop und Rap.

Während Nico bereits im komatösen Zustand vage Bilder und schräge Riffs erahnte, bemerkten die anderen vier jungen Männer erst am Tage ihres Erwachens, die Schicksalhaftigkeit der Ereignisse.

So spielte sich das Ganze ab: Am 17. Mai 2020 fuhr Nico mit leicht überhöhter Geschwindigkeit ohne Fahrradbremse die Neuhauserstrasse hinunter und bemerkte den Lastwagen, den Matthias für den Klaviertransport vor sein Haus gestellt hatte, zu spät. Matthias lag währenddessen unter dem Klavier begraben im Treppenhaus. Ein Stock über ihm rammte der liebeskranke Saïd seinen Kopf durch die Zimmerwand. Neben ihm lag Linus, ganz blau. Er hatte das Lederputzmittelfläschchen mit seinem täglichen Multivitamin verwechselt.

Nur Leo war noch nicht dabei. Er befand sich zu der Zeit in einem Helikopter von Moldawien her kommend. Der Betreuer an einer Kita hatte den Schneeball mit dem Stein drin erst zu spät bemerkt. Leo sollte sich später nicht mehr daran erinnern. Er vergass seine moldawische Herkunft. Als er auf der Intensivstation erwachte, war seine neue Sprache Deutschrap. Als der Rest der Gruppe, neben ihn auf den Betten liegend, die Äuglein öffneten, waren sie eine Poprapband. «Die Props gehen raus», soll ein Zivi ihnen am 25.05.20, als sie das Spital verliessen noch zugerufen haben. Es war die Begründung eines neuen Genres: Prop.

Seither hat Le Koma reichlich Erfahrung gesammelt, mit Auftritten unter Brücken, in den üblichen angesagten Locations, bei Schaffhausens berühmtester Konzertveranstaltung Stars in Town und nicht zuletzt beim legendären Sommerfest in Neunkirch. Und nun kommt im Frühling 2023 die Veröffentlichung ihrer ersten EP «Und am Ende sind wir alle tot».

Le Koma make rap in German, and how! Mercilessly honest lyrics on spherical guitar riffs, an exploration of genre boundaries, always curious but never artificial.

A speeding track, a mix-up and heartbreak, a snowball fight and a piano in the stairwell led anno 2020 to a well-filled intensive care unit in the canton of Schaffhausen and finally to the marriage of pop and rap.

While Nico already sensed vague images and weird riffs in his comatose state, the other four young men only noticed the fatefulness of the events on the day they woke up.

Here’s how it all played out: On May 17, 2020, Nico was riding down Neuhauserstrasse at a slightly excessive speed without a bicycle brake and noticed too late the truck Matthias had placed in front of his house to transport the piano. Meanwhile Matthias lay buried under the piano in the stairwell. One floor above him, the lovesick Saïd rammed his head through the wall of the room. Next to him lay Linus, all blue. He had mistaken the leather cleaner bottle for his daily multivitamin.

Only Leo wasn’t there yet. He was in a helicopter coming from Moldova at the time. The attendant at a daycare center had not noticed the snowball with the stone in it until it was too late. Leo was not to remember it later. He forgot his Moldavian origin. When he awoke in the intensive care unit, his new language was German rap. When the rest of the group, lying next to him on the beds, opened their little eyes, they were a pop rap band. “The props are going out,” a civilian is said to have shouted to them on 25.05.20, when they were still leaving the hospital. It was the foundation of a new genre: prop.

Since then, Le Koma has gained plenty of experience, with gigs under bridges, in the usual hip venues, at Schaffhausen’s most famous concert event Stars in Town and last but not least at the legendary summer festival in Neunkirch. And now comes the release of their first EP “Und am Ende sind wir alle tot” in spring 2023.
